Call it nesting. Call it winter boredom. Call it panic (as in, this baby BOY will be here soon and at this rate will be surrounded by PINK).
Regardless, a couple weeks ago, I got a grand idea to make some burp cloths! I was never satisfied with Kylie's thin flannel burp cloths and decided that homemade may be the way to go. Problem is, I don't sew (besides the occasional button). Rather than going out and buying a sewing machine without having a clue, I asked Pat to borrow hers. Tim brought it up last weekend (when he came to Basement Boot Camp with Lt. Matt) and I cluelessly stared at it for awhile.
Well, leave it to my hubby to sit down, turn it on, thread the needle and proceed to show me the exact way to operate a sewing machine. HUH?! This guy never ceases to amaze me. He credits 8th grade Home Economics class, I notch it up to yet another random talent that he possesses. Either way, it was a good lesson and I was able to make my own burp cloths!! How exciting is that?! Oh, and don't mind that the bobbin needs replaced... Matthew Stewart to the rescue to replace/refill (?? don't know the lingo) it in a matter of seconds.
Check out the fruits of my labor below!!
And for fun, a different pattern with frayed edges:
oooooh, pretty. I want some. (not that I need any- but still) What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteShawna, don't play coy, I know you can sew. Did you forget about the red bunny, that beautiful creation from your youth?? Hahaha! But really, I love the burp cloths, too cute.
ReplyDeleteAhhh yes, Stac, how could I forget the red bunny!?! You're right, I was born to do this! HA
ReplyDeletered bunny? I must hear about the red bunny.

Marissa- I had a "creative" time period during my early adolescence. One Easter when I was about 8 (?) I decided to sew a bunny using red scrap fabric that I found and cotton fill. I wrote a story to go along with my creation and read the story aloud to my family on Easter morning (the plot all surrounded on the fact that the bunny was red, so I think it was something about the Easter bunny hiding baskets and he hid one in the oven and got stuck... oven got turned out... hence the red bunny...). Anyway, I have yet to live it down. No pictures exist. Nor does the bunny. So sorry! :)
