Feelin' Good.

All healthy again 'round these parts. Which means lots of smiles...

And the ability to work in the basement again!! ;)
You can't tell in this picture but the ceiling is almost completely drywalled!
And have you ever seen such beautiful and precise insulation cuts?! You can thank yours truly for that contribution!

Little Miss loves being a part of the activity/MESS... Just check out that ornery grin!

Germs.

No fun and festivities to report from the Schneider household this weekend. Nope. Just lots of tissues, Tylenol, chicken noodle soup, gatorade/Pedialyte/Sprite, a doctor visit, some naps, tons of hand washing, and loads of laundry and Lysol-ing!
Kylie got a cold last week and it turned into a yucky stomach bug. She was such a trooper through it all, though! It definitely wasn't fun to watch her go through all of the unfortunate effects that the bug brings, especially since it was her first time experiencing a stomach bug. She seems to be on the mend now, but not before sharing some of her germies with daddy :(.

Here's to a healthier week... and the end of February!!

And just because a post with a photo is no fun... here is a photo I took with my phone (to send to daddy at work) at Kylie's 2 year doctor well-visit (cannot believe that was 5 months ago!). I love this picture and thought it was slightly related since it was taken in the same doctor's office that we were in yesterday!

I'm off to anti-bacterialize...

She's a Mac.

She has always been into her electronics (just like daddy), starting with her fascination with remote controls when she was only a few months old.
Her new favorite thing to do is watch videos of The Wiggles on YouTube. If she sees me or Matt on the computer, she asks to "watch wiggles on white 'puter."
The other night she crawled up next to Matt as he was doing some work on the computer, so she could watch some videos. You see who got the "good" computer!

My favorite part...

about Valentine's Day (besides my 2 favorite Valentines, of course) is taking one of my favorite things...
... and making them even better!!
Matt and I have made chocolate covered strawberries every Valentine's Day that we've been married. It's a fun and yummy tradition! Look at these beauts!

And when you have left-over chocolate, you must never, never let it go to waste.
So we also dipped some pretzels.

And proving that he really does know the way to his preggo wife's stomach, er heart.... caramel-dipped apples drizzled with chocolate and pecans. Mmmm!

And last but certainly not least... our sweet little Valentine feeling under the weather today. Poor little thing has a cold and a fever. :(  She's spending her day curled up on the couch, under a blanket, watching The Wiggles/Dora/Little Bear episodes.
But she did find the energy to devour some caramel apple pieces. That's my girl!

Happy Valentine's Weekend!

Big Switcheroo.

The Big Switch of '09 took place this week. I've been stressing for months now about moving Kylie to her big girl room/bed. I was hoping to see a sign that she was ready to be evicted from the crib, but didn't get any. She was so content in that thing, despite running out of room, and was still sleeping 12+ hours at night and taking a good 2-3 hour nap everyday. Obviously, we didn't want to mess up a good thing... and this was a really good thing!
However, we decided that the time had come. Her big girl room has been ready for about 2 months and the baby will be here in 10 weeks!
So, Thursday was her last nap in the crib :(

And, the new room instantly went from a playing/reading room to a sleeping room...

We hesitantly put her in there Thurs. night, following the same nighttime routine. And, thankfully, she slept a solid 12 hours!!! We were so thrilled!
It's been 3 nights and still, so far so good. I'm a little afraid to blog about it, fearing that I may jinx us. :) Let's hope not.

Sewing 101

Call it nesting. Call it winter boredom. Call it panic (as in, this baby BOY will be here soon and at this rate will be surrounded by PINK).
Regardless, a couple weeks ago, I got a grand idea to make some burp cloths! I was never satisfied with Kylie's thin flannel burp cloths and decided that homemade may be the way to go. Problem is, I don't sew (besides the occasional button). Rather than going out and buying a sewing machine without having a clue, I asked Pat to borrow hers. Tim brought it up last weekend (when he came to Basement Boot Camp with Lt. Matt) and I cluelessly stared at it for awhile.
Well, leave it to my hubby to sit down, turn it on, thread the needle and proceed to show me the exact way to operate a sewing machine. HUH?! This guy never ceases to amaze me. He credits 8th grade Home Economics class, I notch it up to yet another random talent that he possesses. Either way, it was a good lesson and I was able to make my own burp cloths!! How exciting is that?! Oh, and don't mind that the bobbin needs replaced... Matthew Stewart to the rescue to replace/refill (?? don't know the lingo) it in a matter of seconds.
Check out the fruits of my labor below!!

And for fun, a different pattern with frayed edges:
