5 candles.

Celebrating Ky's 5th birthday.

A couple days before her birthday, Kylie got to be the "leader of the day" at school.

Gavin and I got to go to school that day, too. Any day that Gav gets to tag along to preschool, is an excellent day in his book!
Snack time is a favorite time for this kid.
He was the last kid at the table. Finishing every last crumb before getting up.
On the morning of her birthday, Kylie was greeted with balloons and streamers... and one very excited brother!
She requested french toast for her b-day breakfast.
After breakfast she got to open a few gifts from the neighbors!
A Barbie! Score!
My big 5 year old!
So excited about her cookies from daddy!
She requested nachos for lunch! The girl loves her some cheesy nacho chips!
And once again, excited little brother is in on the action, too!
Finally, it was time to celebrate with some family! We had a Strawberry Shortcake birthday party this year. She decided about 6 months ago that that was the party she wanted to have. In typical Kylie fashion she informed me a few days before the party that she had changed her mind; actually a Barbie party is what she wanted. Sorry, sister, but we stuck with the Strawberry Shortcake theme. She did, however, get a very pink Barbie cake!

Lots of berries for our chocolate fondue!

Cannot believe that this girl is F-I-V-E!!

With her very proud daddy!
And proud mama!

Singing "Happy Birthday" and enjoying JJ's very enthusiastic version!! Sooo funny!

The 6 grandkids with their great grandma Judy & great grandpa Sam.
The 6 with great grandma Betty.

Kinda like that.

Yep, this describes my week pretty well....

STINKY!

Thanks to the nasty, rainy weather that keeps reminding me that that awful season is almost upon us. Boo.
Thanks to germs and bugs. Kylie has been sick all week and we found out today that it is more than likely pneumonia. Poor baby.
Thanks to a 2.5 year old that has decided that now is the time to show his really awesome independent/stubborn streak. Ay yi yi.

Here's to hoping for a better weekend!

(sidenotes: Gav is obsessed with deodorant. And this shot was not staged at all.)

1st bike race.

These photos date back to the beginning of September but I didn't want to forget to blog them so here they are. Better late than never!

Now that road race season is over, we've moved onto cyclocross season. The first race of the season was over labor day weekend and offered a kids race, as well.
Kylie and Gavin both participated and had a great time!

It was a super hot day so they spent some time getting hydrated before the race.

Gavie looking official with his first race bib!
The course was slightly downhill and at this point Gav was still a little nervous about any downhill or uphill riding so Matt gave a little assistance.
Gavin was SO pumped to get a medal (luckily all participants received one)! He and his neighbor friend posed for a pic after their tough race!

Next up was Kylie's race. This race was longer or more technical than Gavin's. She even had to ride in the woods!
Here she comes down the final stretch! We were so proud of her at this moment that our chests felt like they were going to explode! Even though we've both done competitive sports there is no feeling that compares to seeing your child "compete".
After crossing the finish line (in the middle of the pack) and getting her medal!!

So proud of herself!
Checking out her medal...

After a few more categories of racing, it was finally daddy's turn to race. Matt did an awesome job and placed 3rd! I was exhausted when it was over just from watching! They ride up hills, down hills, in the grass, in the sand, in the mud, in the woods, over barriers, carrying your bike and running, etc.

Since then he has placed 1st three times and is leading the series in his category! Go Matt!
