Easter '09

Despite meeting the Easter Bunny the day before, Kylie was a little apprehensive about coming downstairs Easter morning... fearing that he was still hanging around. Once we reassured her that he had gone home, she relaxed and came down to find her eggs and basket that he had hidden.

Poor thing was feeling a little under the weather with a cold, but still had a good time... nothing that a few "N-en-N's" (M&M's) can't fix!! 

Her very own set of chap sticks since she is obsessed with digging her little fingers into all of mine!

We are SO proud of the way Kylie has adjusted to having a new baby brother. She shows no animosity towards him at all, despite having to share our attention. She is so loving and sweet with him. Always wants to hold him, kiss him and soothe him when he cries. 

We couldn't ask for more from her... well, ok, I would love for her to stop waking up at 7 am... (what happened to 8 and 8:30, Ky?!)

Syd & Ky

After Kenny's wrestling match at Stow High School last Saturday, Sydney came over to play with Kylie. 

They took advantage of the beautiful day by blowing bubbles on the deck.

((Check out Syd's adorable get-up... she raided Kylie's "dress-up clothes" bin and found this lovely tutu that just happened to match her outfit!))

Kylie is SO lucky to have such a patient, loving, and fun big cousin!

Here she is getting a lesson on how to play the Nintendo DS (or as she calls it the "DD")... this girl has a fascination with electronics!

Easter Egg Hunt

Unfortunately, we couldn't make it to the Annual Schneider Family Easter Egg Hunt this year, but Kylie did get her egg huntin' fix by participating in our community's annual egg hunt. She came away with about 20 eggs full of stickers and jelly beans galore!

Meeting the Easter Bunny. She was surprisingly brave around him; even tugging his ears, shaking his hand, hugging him and thanking him for the eggs!

Just over 48 hours old and already a little charmer! He has the best dimples and has a smile that stretches across his entire face. He gives us lots of sleepy smiles... love that!

Little man's arrival

A very hopeful mommy and daddy heading to the hospital on Sunday night...

After a trip back home (thanks to Dr. McDorky that better hope not to see me in a dark alley anytime soon) and then back to the hospital, he finally decided that yes, he was ready to meet his family.

Less than 24 hours old...

We feel so blessed to have 2 healthy and amazing little kids (wow that plural word is going to take some getting used to)!

"Schneider, party of 4..."

We are so excited to welcome the newest member of our family...

GAVIN MATTHEW SCHNEIDER

Born this morning at 7:23am, weighing 7 lbs. 11 oz. and measuring 21 inches long.

Thanks to a free WiFi connection at Akron General we are able to update you all while in the recovery room. Shawna was amazing and once again made this having-a-baby thing look way too easy. (There was a nursing student who observed the birth... the head nurse in the room had to explain to the student that the birth she had just witnessed was not normal. She said "it is not supposed to be that easy and normally the mother is in pain.") That's my girl!

Gavin and Shawna are both doing great! We are all hoping to get some sleep tonight since we did not get any last night. Here is a little run down of our evening:

9:30pm - headed into the hospital to get checked (after having contractions for a week)

11:30pm - told nothing has progressed in the past week

12:30am - sent back home :(

1:30am - Matt falls fast asleep, Shawna still uncomfortable

3:30am - Shawna wakes Matt up... "My water broke!"

3:30:01am - Matt almost has a heart attack as he trips out of bed

4:00am - arrive at hospital (again) and get back to the room ASAP asking for epidural

5:30am - epidural... or as Shawna calls it, "Heaven on Earth"

7:15am - time to start pushing

7:23am - after the third contraction of pushing, Gavin is born!!

7:25am - Matt cuts the umbilical cord like an experienced, world-renowned, surgeon and the birth is complete!

Kylie is enjoying her time at home entertaining a couple sets of grandparents. 

From what we have been told, she does not even know we are gone! haha. 

Thanks for the help Moms and Dads! We miss you Kylie and will see you soon! Your little brother can not wait to meet his BIG SISTER!!!
